As we enter the home stretch of the school year, I would like to take this opportunity to remind friends and colleagues of the Florida Joint Center for Citizenship that this organization is available for free to meet your needs relating to civic education in Florida. Whether you would like a look at pedagogical approaches to civics and social studies education, a deep dive into the benchmark specifications, a session devoted to breaking down and analyzing data, a discussion of the C3 Framework within the context of quality civics and/or social studies instruction, or even an exploration of specific content within history or the broader social studies that can be connected back to civics, we can meet you where you are. Our calendar is pretty flexible going into June and July, and please feel free to contact us to set up a professional development session. We prefer to work through the district specialists, but if you would like a session that engages just the social studies department at your school, we might be able to help you as well. At the very least, we can always do a virtual conversation! We just need your desired dates and topics, and how many folks we would be working with. And as a reminder, we are a non-profit created to serve YOU, so all of our resources and professional development are 100% free! Contact me at stephen.masyada@ucf.edu or at 407-823-1146.
